Curriculum
At St Mary's we strive to provide a curriculum that meets the specific needs of our individuals in line with the National Curriculum and specific to our children. Those needs may be individual next steps in learning, or the way in which an individual learns most effectively at different times in their lives. We use the outdoors and a variety of methods and styles to facilitate learning. Our Faith underpins everything we do, enabling care and compassion to be at the heart of our teaching and learning. We want our children to use their learning and their discoveries and enthusiasm for exploration, to help themselves and others near or far, friend or stranger, just as our Mission suggests.
Alongside consultation with subject advisors within our local authority, our subject leaders plan the yearly overview with split classes in mind, ensuring coverage of NC and progression from EYFS to Y6. Our pupil curriculum ambassadors help the subject lead and contribute to pupil voice in developing the subject further, to meet the changing needs and interests of our pupils.
We enjoy clubs and events planned and created by curriculum ambassadors such as MFL club, music showcase and art clubs.
